Mohamed Salah has been named the 2018 African Player of the Year for stunning record breaking 2017/18 campaign and scoring 32 league goals .
Egypt and Liverpool’s Striker Mohamed Salah has been crowned the 2018 African Player of the Year . The Egyptian forward helped the Franchise to the Champions League final in May 2018 and has been a vital part of their assault on the Premier League title so far this season. He retained the prize which he also won last year as well .Muhamed Salah was joined on stage by a group of dancers in Dakar, Senegal.
Mohamed Salah was handed the award by CAF president Ahmad Ahmad and George Weah . Salah beat fellow nominees Sadio Mane and Arsenal forward Pierre Aubameyang. He edged the same two players last year in a vote decided by head coaches of 56 CAF member associations andthe technical directors.
Muhamed Salah was also included in the Africa Best XI for 2018 alongside Mane and Naby Keita in the cermony . It completes another award filled year for him after he also retained the BBC African Footballer of the Year 2018 prize and finished 6th in the Ballon d’Or standings.
