Prince William and Kate Middleton visit blustery Dundee to officially open Scotland’s first design museum the V&A .
Prince William and Kate are in Dundee to officially open Scotland’s first design museum the V&A.They were welcomed this afternoon by hordes of well wishers and were also greeted by museum director Philip Long before entering the museum which was closed for the day for a private tour.
Kate Middleton made a short speech celebrating the addition of the new cultural centre for Scotland and the UK in her role as patron of V&A. Kate said ‘Last February I was delighted to be asked to be the V&A’s Patron. Now, nearly a year later, I’m thrilled to be standing in a brand new V&A; one which has been built for the city of Dundee and for Scotland.’
Kate and William were given a private tour of the V&A Dundee.They are also known as the Earl and Countess of Strathearn when in Scotland, were met by museum director Philip Long before entering the museum for a tour .
V&A The new museum which is at the heart of a £1 billion waterfront regeneration plan is already bringing significant economic and social benefits to the local area helping to reshape the city’s future as a hub for the creative industries. The establishment of the new museum was made possible thanks to a collaboration between the V&A, the University of Dundee the UK and Scottish governments, the National Lottery and Scottish Enterprise.
